MIFX
Re-design: MIFX Application
In a Nutshell
This doc covers the redesign of the MIFX mobile app, where I worked as a junior cx designer continuing the work started by a senior designer. My main contributions were assisting in shaping user flows and scenarios, and later taking ownership of maintaining and developing the design system.
Over time, the scope grew beyond a single app redesign. The design system became a shared foundation for both MIFX, which serves the Indonesian market, and Valutrades, its global counterpart. By using the same system, both products were able to stay visually and structurally consistent while supporting faster development and future scalability.
This project reflects my growth in understanding products more deeply, collaborating across teams, and taking increasing responsibility. Moving from executing designs to helping ensure the product works well, scales properly, and truly serves user needs.
The MIFX App was officially released at 28 Dec 2025, you guys can download it on Playstore or Appstore.
MIFX is a trading platform that empowers Indonesian traders to make smarter investment decisions through market insights, trading education, and real-time tools. When the company decided to redesign the MIFX app, I had the opportunity to be involved from the very beginning of the process. What started as a product redesign quickly grew into something much bigger, this became my first large-scale project where I took responsibility not only for redesigning key user flows, but also for building and maintaining the design system that would support the entire product ecosystem.
This project is a reflection of my journey, and I’m very happy and excited to share how the work came together and the impact it created.
Why Now?
Actually the app redesign had been discussed for a long time but was repeatedly postponed due to the sheer scale of effort required. However, as user demand continued to grow, maintaining the existing experience became increasingly unsustainable.
This redesign was not only about visual improvements alone. It became a necessary step to address deeper structural challenges; refining user flows, restructuring information architecture, and most critically is modernizing the underlying codebase. At this stage, redesigning the app was essential to support scalability, performance, and long-term product growth.
My Role
In this project, I worked as a junior cx designer continuing and scaling the foundation that had been laid by a senior designer. I assisted closely in refining user flows and defining various scenarios across the app, helping translate high-level concepts into detailed, usable experiences.
As the project progressed, I took on a larger ownership in maintaining and evolving the design system after it was handed over to me. I led the day-to-day governance of the system then ensuring consistency, documenting patterns, and adapting components as new requirements emerged. This role required close collaboration with engineers, product managers, and CX teams to make sure the design system remained practical, scalable, and aligned with ongoing product development.
In addition to design execution, I was also responsible for defining and measuring product impact. I worked on establishing baseline metrics before deployment and planned post-launch measurement to evaluate the effectiveness of the redesign. This included initiating NPS and CSAT surveys before release, with follow-up measurements scheduled after deployment to assess changes in user satisfaction.
Through this responsibility, I learned how to think beyond design delivery and understanding which metrics matter, how design decisions connect to business outcomes, and how to evaluate success from a product and business perspective while ensuring continuity as the product and team evolved.
Outcome
The redesigned MIFX app established a stronger foundation for long-term growth, both in terms of user experience and internal product development. By refining key flows and improving clarity across critical trading journeys, the redesign helped create a more intuitive and reliable experience for Indonesian users.
Beyond the MIFX app itself, the design system played a crucial role in scaling impact. The system became the shared foundation not only for MIFX, but also for Valutrades: MIFX’s global market product.
This approach allowed the team to move faster, reduce duplication, and ensure that future product development across markets remains aligned and scalable.

What I've Learnt & Special Thanks
This project reinforced several important lessons in my growth as a CX/Product designer.
I learned how to design at scale, moving beyond individual screens and features to think in systems. Working on a shared design system taught me to approach problems system-first rather than feature-first, considering long-term impact, consistency, and scalability.
More importantly, this project made me realize how critical deep product knowledge is in the design process. Truly understanding the product & its users, constraints, and purpose. Takes design to the next level. At that point, design is no longer just about creating interfaces, but about providing real solutions that serve user needs and support the overall service.
Through close collaboration with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders, I also learned how to balance ideal design solutions with real-world limitations, and how strong product understanding enables better decision-making in complex environments.
